- Satellite TV and Sports Entertainment:
- The landscape of sports entertainment has changed
recently with the growing popularity of the programs offered by digital satellite providers. In the not-too-distant-past,
the local cable provider was the only source for programming packages that included movies and sports. If a consumer
wanted more they had to turn to satellite providers. Often, this required large, expensive dishes sometimes 8 feet
or more in diameter that took up a significant portion of your backyard. All of that has changed.
- More Sports Programming Options
- While digital cable and satellite TV offers much
of the same programs, package options and similar levels of picture quality, one of the biggest advantages of satellite
TV is in the sports entertainment options. For only a few dollars more per month, the consumer can add sports programming,
allowing them to view local or regional events they would not otherwise be able to see.
The multitude of sports entertainment options, both in number of games and variety of sports, often far exceeds
the sports programming digital cable has to offer.
- Lower Cost
- The consumer will generally find a greater variety
of programming options with satellite TV for movies, sports entertainment, local channels, and pay-per-view than
with basic cable or digital cable. In addition to more options the cost will be lower with satellite TV than with
a similar cable package - in almost all cases. Up-front costs are reasonable or in some cases waived, and the per-television-set
costs are generally lower as well. For the sports fan looking for the greatest sports entertainment options, satellite
TV tends to be the better choice.
