Telecommunications in Hungary
According to CIA World Factbook, as of July 2014 estimates,
Hungary had a population of 9.91 million. In 2012, it had 2.96 million main line telephones in use and 11.58 million
mobile cellular phones.
As you can see, there are more mobile phones in use in Hungary than there are people, a common phenomenon in countries
around the world. Likewise, the number of mainline telephones has dwindled in comparison. Competition in the mobile
market has contributed to these changing numbers since 2000.
The CIA World Factbook's general assessment of Hungary's telecommunication system reports that it is a modern
system that is both digital and highly automated. Fiber optic cable and digital microwave relay carry Hungary's
trunk services. In 1196, Hungary initiated a program for fiber optic subscriber connections.
Hungary's telecommunications system is connected to all neighboring countries via fiber optic cable connections
with Budapest being home to the international switch.
Two satellite earth stations provide additional international connectivity.
As of 2009, Hungary had 6.176 million Internet users,
putting it at 40th place when compared with the rest of the world.
The main fixed line telecommunications companies in Hungary include: T-Com (Matav), Invitel, Hungarotel, Emitel,
and Monortel. The main mobile telecommunications companies in Hungary include: T-Mobile, Telenor, and Vodafone.
Hungary Conference Calls
With its modern phone system and international connectivity,
making and receiving international phone calls in Hungary is practically business as usual.
However, the practice becomes tricky when you need to make international calls with a group
of participants located inside of and outside of Hungary.
For example, if you are in Hungary and need to host a group conference call with trade partners in Germany, Romania,
and Austria, each of those participants would need to dial a local number for Hungary in order to access a traditional
conference call.
Your toll free number simply won't accommodate international callers.
Though your call may originate in Hungary, your international participants can be given access numbers that are
local to their countries.
For example, your international conference call attendees located in Germany could dial an access number local
to Berlin, Germany and be immediately connected to your Hungary conference call. Meanwhile, those located in Austria
and Romania would each use local or toll free access numbers for Austria and Romania respectively.
Our international conference calling service is a pay-as-you-go plan that you can use from virtually any country.
We support over 100 countries with local and toll free access numbers. All of our international conference calls
are routed over a PSTN fiber optic network for optimal call quality.
With a huge list of value-added international conferencing features (like call recording, dial-out, and live conference
viewers) coupled low per minute rates and no contracts, no minimum, no monthly fees, no recurring fees and no penalties
for non-usage, you can't go wrong by signing up for a Hungary international conference calling plan.

About Hungary
Hungary was a communist country after falling in World
War II. However, it resisted, first in 1956 when it revolved and attempted to withdraw from the Warsaw Pact and
again in 1968 when it started to liberalize its economy. In 1990, change came with multiparty elections and the
initiation of a free market economy. Hungary is now a member of both NATO and the European Union.
In recent years, Hungary has suffered from economic turmoil. The global financial crisis took its toll, resulting
in serious economic woes by 2009.
While the government cut business and personal income taxes in 2010, financial institutions, retailers, and energy
and telecom companies faced new "crisis taxes."
According to BuddeComm, telecom revenue was affected by the economic crisis, exacerbated by the aforementioned
"crisis" taxes imposed on the telecommunications industry. An attempt to tax Internet traffic was widely
opposed and ultimately abandoned in late 2014.
Hungary's economy is largely services based with services accounting for 65.5 percent, industry 31.1 percent, and
agriculture just 3.4 percent of the economy.
Hungary's export partners include: Germany 26.7 percent, Romania 5.8 percent, Austria 5.7 percent, Slovakia 5.4
percent, Italy 4.9 percent, France 4.6 percent, United Kingdom 4.1 percent, and Poland 4 percent.
Its import partners include similar percentages, though the countries differ slightly: Germany 25.5 percent, Russia
8.6 percent, Austria 6.8 percent, China 6.7 percent, Slovakia 5.8 percent, Poland 4.9 percent, Italy 4.4 percent,
and Czech Republic 4.2 percent. top
