International Conference Calling with Mauritius
Whether you live in Mauritius, are vacationing there, or visiting the island nation on business, you may need to
host or participate in global group audio calls while there. Likewise, if you're located elsewhere but have contacts
in Mauritius, you may need to hold an international conference call involving Mauritius.
Though the island is remote with a small but capable phone system, holding global conference calls involving Mauritius
is relatively easy. Here's what you'll need in order to use our international conference calling service with Mauritius
participants or hosts.
Here's how to do it:
1 Activate
an account for our international conference calling plan. Register here.
2 Get
the download and use the free Connect app from iTunes or Google Play.
Encourage other participants in Mauritius to download and use the free Connect app, too.
Once you have an activated conferencing account and have the app on your smarphone or desktop (and a network or
wifi connection), you can use the app to join global conference calls from Mauritius or anywhere else in the world.
The app is particularly useful in countries like Mauritius where toll free and in-country access numbers are not
available. Instead of dialing a number to host or join an international conference call, you'll use the app. It
will dial the appropriate number and join you to your other conference call attendees.
You can also use the app to dial other participants directly or record your Mauritius conference calls.
Our 24/7 US-based operators can also connect participants to your conferences if you prefer.
No matter how you connect, all of your participants will be routed across modern PSTN telephone networks for the
best sound quality possible - and you'll be billed based on our competitive international conferencing rates, not
those of Mauritius Telecom.
Our service is offered with no term contract or usage commitments.
Alternative free Connect App Optionally the chairperson or attendee can
use the free 'Connect'
app using wifi to trigger a call-back to his/her phone to enter the Mauritius conference call.

The Republic of Mauritius is an island nation located about 1200 miles off the
coast of Africa - even further east than Madagascar. Mauritius is made up of several islands: Mauritius, Rodrigues,
and a few outer islands. The largest city in Mauritius is also its capital, Port Luis.
Mauritius island was initially uninhabited until the Dutch colonized it in the 1600s, naming the island after Prince
Maurice van Nassau. After the Dutch abandoned the colony, France moved in, naming the island Isle de France. In
the early 1800s, the island changed hands again after the Napoleonic wars, this time as a British colony named
Mauritius. The country finally gained its independence in 1968. However, there are a few disputes over the sovereignty
of some of the outer islands.
One of Mauritius's islands is Diego Garcia, which is leased to the United States and closed to all but the U.S.
military.
Today, Mauritius has one of the highest per capita incomes in Africa and is a stable democracy. The country has
a positive human rights record and is home to 1,339,827 as of July 2015 estimates.
Mauritius has a strong middle-income economy focused on tourism, sugar, textiles, and financial services. Its economy
has grown steadily for several decades. About 15 percent of all of its exports involves sugarcane, which is grown
on the vast majority of the island's cultivated land area. New markets for Mauritius include real estate development,
hospitality, health care, renewable energy, fish processing, and information and communications technology.
Mauritius relies on imported oil for much of its energy due to a lack of exploitable natural resources. Other natural
resources, such as its beautiful beaches, add to its appeal as one of the world's top tourist destinations.
