- How do you use a cell phone
with Callback ?
- To save additional money below already attractive
SIM card rates, there are two basic mobile phone conditions you will need to make certain exist before you can
take advantage of the further cost reduction available using our callback service inconjunction with a roaming SIM card.
- Requirement: A cell phone with
'free' incoming calls
- If you own an 'unlocked GSM mobile phone' you
can use any SIM card that has free
incoming calls and use our callback
service to save money, guaranteed.
You will be able to reduce your already low SIM card rates by approximately another 20% to 35% by using our callback
service.
If you need a 'country specific' SIM card or you are thinking about buying an 'unlocked GSM phone', click here.
However, if you currently pay a per minute charge when you 'receive' a call on your mobile phone, (like every U.S.
cell phone) you probably cannot benefit economically by using a callback service with that cell phone.
Why is this true ? Because by definition, a callback service calls you back and 'delivers' a U.S. dial-tone (an
incoming call) to your designated callback number, your mobile phone in this case.
Therefore, if your cell phone service provider currently charges you for incoming calls, you would have to pay
'two' charges. One charge coming from your cell phone provider and the other charge from your callback provider.
Obviously, this scenario of having 'two' charges and two rates per minute usually makes the call very expensive
and is counter productive to saving you money. So, to save money with a callback service using your
mobile phone, you need a mobile device that does 'not' charge you for inbound calls e.g. an unlocked GSM mobile
phone and a roaming SIM card.
- The second requirement:
- A mobile phone with international access.
Why ? Because you need to signal the callback company to send you the callback when you want to make a call. This
number is a U.S. access number and that requires an international call even though the call will go unanswered,
you still need international access to trigger the callback.
If you have free incoming calls and your cell phone has international call capability, you can then use 'callback'
to save money and make calls at callback rates instead of your cell phone provider's exorbitant rates and even cut your SIM card rates
further.
- Can you use your U.S. cell
phone while abroad and call the U.S. or elsewhere ?
- You may be able
to make international calls with your U.S. cell phone if you contact your existing provider and request to add
'international call origination' to your account.
You will then be able to make international calls if the country you are traveling TO has service capability with
your U.S. cell phone company. The rates to call the U.S. may range from 99¢ per minute to $1.65 per minute
depending on your cell phone carrier, Sprint, Cingular, etc. You'll pay even higher rates to call from one country
to another non U.S. country.
Can you then use your U.S. cell phone with our callback service to save money ? Most probably not. Why ? Because your U.S. cell phone provider will charge you for 'incoming calls' and
that defeats any savings with using our callback service. So, now you may be able to make international calls BUT
you are now stuck with your U.S. cell phone providers very high rates.
- What is the work around for
this problem ?
- You need an 'unlocked' GSM mobile phone. This
will permit you to use any 'SIM card' from any carrier, with favorable rates. The
rates will be much lower than using a U.S. service carriers cell phone plan with their extremely high international
calling rates. AND you can then reduce rates even further, if desired, by using callback with your new GSM SIM
card. You will then be able to drop your rates another 20% to 35% below the SIM card rates using callback.
If you have an unlocked GSM phone with a SIM card, you will then have 'two' options when you travel.
#1. Use the SIM card published international rates.
#2. Reduce costs even more using callback with the SIM card.
- The solution: An 'unlocked'
GSM mobile phone
