- Programming sources are merely the channels that
provide programming for the Dish TV broadcast.
The provider doesn't create original programming itself; it pays other companies like HBO, for example, or ESPN)
for the right to broadcast their shows and content via satellite to satellite TV subscribers.
In this way, the provider is similar to a facilitator between you and the actual programming sources for Dish TV.
Cable TV companies work on the same principle.
The broadcast center is the center of the system. At the broadcast hub, the television provider receives signals
from various programming sources and beams a broadcast signal to satellites in geo-stationary orbit.
The satellites receive the signals from the broadcast station and rebroadcasts them to the ground and to then to
the Dish TV.
The viewer's dish picks up the signal from the satellite, or multiple satellites in the same part of the sky, and
passes it on to the satellite TV dish and receiver in the viewer's house.
The receiver processes the signal and sends it on to a standard television.
